New York, NY, (February 29, 2008) – Elisa DeCarlo aka The Mad Fashionista, was featured in the “Front Row” column in the ThursdayStyles section of The New York Times.

The column, “Personality Plus: A Twin Takes Over,” written by Eric Wilson is both an interview with DeCarlo and a preview of her show, “Diary of a Mad Fashionista,” now playing at the New York Frigid Festival through March 8th. There is a photograph of DeCarlo by fine art photographer Michael J. Berkowitz.

The Times piece details the plot of the show: A successful ego-driven celebrity stylist and world renowned vintage collector/dealer (played by DeCarlo) scams a grant from Bill Gates to teach a course at the Fashion Institute of Technology to welfare recipients: “Haute-Cou-Poor.”

The Fashionista is wealthy, snobbish, and her class lectures are just as self-centered and vaccuous. She fires assistants the way other people change their socks.

But the heart of the plot is the competition between the Fashionista against her archrival, West Coast stylist Sabrina Airchild, a new age hippie vegan who quotes The Secret and drives the Mad Fashionista, well, mad, in their race at at online eBay auction for the holy grail of vintage fashion: a 1967 Christian Dior cheetah coat with otter collar and cuffs. The outcome? Attend the show at the New York Frigid Festival to find out.
