Mobatar shocks Romans by distributing money

Rome, Italy, June 18th 2008— Over the weekend, Mobatar (www.mobatar.it) distributed up to 25,000 pieces of 5 cent coins to Romans for its first advertising campaign, which was rewarded with priceless expressions.

Alongside the coins are small notes that resemble a text message, encouraging people to register with Mobatar in order to keep receiving 5 cent with each SMS advertisement they receive on their mobile phones.

The concept is simple, yet intriguing. Mobatar stresses to its potential advertisers that an SMS is guaranteed to be seen and read by the receiver; just as a coin on a note guarantees the curiosity of the receiver, inevitably leading them to read the message on their fingertips.

As Mobatar's representatives distributed the little treasures in Rome's center, Chung-Guk Kim, Mobatar's CEO, was also there to witness his campaign. According to Kim, "The most enjoyable part is to see people's reaction when they received the 'message'. Some came back to ask for more, some asked for more information about our company, and others just couldn't believe how it was possible to receive money so easily! Once pedestrians receive the advertisement, many of them actually stop walking - completely motionless - to read what they had just been given."

Getting people so curious and interested in what the company offers, marks a positive outcome for Mobatar. It's really not surprising; after all, who doesn't like money?
