81designs Changes The Rules For Job Seekers With Zoobedo.com

July 09, 2008 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
East Grand Forks, Minn. - July 09 - 81designs, a Web design and development firm specializing in custom application development and digital brand management, today announced the launch of Zoobedo.com, a resume publisher and job search toolkit. Zoobedo.com enables users to create and store resumes, search job postings from indeed.com, and track the open rate of their resumes for free.

Today's college graduates and young professionals searching for their first or next job are demanding access to information in their job hunt. No longer is it acceptable to job applicants to wait days, weeks or months before hearing from a perspective employer. They want to know immediately when their resume is being reviewed.

"Millennials grew up with the Internet, and are accustomed to having access to vast amounts of information quickly and being able to share it," said Kayla Effertz, former assistant director of First Impressions, UND Wellness Center. "In helping hundreds of college students prepare for their first job out of school, I heard the same question, 'How do I know if my resume has been reviewed?'"

Zoobedo.com is taking the guess work out of the job application process by informing users in real-time via email when their resume has been reviewed by a perspective employer; enabling them to know immediately when a follow-up call can be made. Additionally, with the automation tools inside Zoobedo.com, users are able to track and organize jobs based on current activity status (i.e. researching, applied and interviewed) and store job descriptions using the application's archiving tool.

"Today's college students and young professionals are very technology savvy, however, social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Flickr have created a crutch for document development," said Effertz. "Millennials are accustomed to entering information into a Web site and having a page created for them. This has created an environment where they're no longer familiar using a Microsoft Word template. They need a tool that has custom dialogue boxes and automates the development process."

Through Zoobedo.com's graphic user interface users are guided through a step-by-step process for entering information and creating a resume. After the user establishes a profile, work history, educational background, skills and references; Zoobedo.com aggregates the information into a customizable resume format. The automated format allows users to create 10 individual tailored resumes using click and remove dialogue boxes. And as a Web based application, Zoobedo.com provides users the convenience of accessing their stored resumes and job descriptions anywhere Internet connectivity is available.

"We recognize there are dozens of resume development applications available today, however, we continue to see the same problem with all of them," said Josh Christy, founder and chief architect of 81designs. "The applications are not providing the needed link between the applicant and the employer. With Zoobedo.com we've allowed job applicants to interact in real-time with a perspective employer. Users are able to monitor a resume's success rate and exchange messages directly with a company's hiring representative."
