Two Weeks Remain in Costa Rica Vacation Contest; Odds High in Applicants' Favor

July 15, 2008 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Costa Rica Pages, a website dedicated to providing daily Costa Rica news and travel information, turned the spotlight on its readers this past May, challenging them to let their past travel moments inspire them and others. With only 15 days to go in the contest, the grand prize, a luxury 6-night vacation valued at $3,000 to three of Costa Rica's top hotels, is still up for grabs.

In this first annual Travel Writing Contest, the website prompts its readers to reflect on a past travel experience – anywhere in the world – that changed or impacted them in some way. Entries of 300 to 800 words are to be submitted directly through the Contest Website where they are published for other readers to comment and vote on.

About 50 entries have been posted so far, and although a surge of last-minute entries is expected, this is one online contest in which the odds are in the applicants' favor. So far the entries take the reader from an overnight mission with the Israeli army to Andalusia, Switzerland, Vietnam, Namibia and even a bullfighting school in California. Five continents and a wide range of countries and experiences have served as the inspiration for these short stories, which in turn provide travel inspiration to others.

Costa Rica Pages set out to have people define the meaning of travel and its purpose in the lives of everyday people. After succeeding to bring people together from a wide range of experiences and perspectives to contemplate this question, it is almost time for the website editors to start analyzing them more closely for value of content in order to determine the grand prize winner.

Two authors have already received the approval of the public, for which they were each awarded a 10% off coupon on any vacation booked through the website's travel affiliate and contest sponsor, Costa Rican Vacations. This monthly contest is based on the number of votes and comments received by each post. The monthly winner for July, as well as the overall Grand Prize winner, will be announced on Aug. 4, 2008.

With just over two weeks to go, there is still the possibility that the author of a new entry could steal the editors' attention and walk away with the free vacation. For more information about how to win, visit the Contest website at: http://www.costaricapages.com/Competition
