SAN DIEGO – Father Mitch Pacwa, S.J., a Jesuit priest and the host of two popular shows on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), will deliver the keynote address at John Paul the Great Catholic University’s scholarship endowment gala.

The black-tie optional event, which will include dinner and program, will be held at 6 p.m., Sept. 17, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine. The university, which is currently in formation in San Diego’s North County, will use all proceeds from the event to establish a scholarship endowment fund.

Individual gala tickets are available from $125.
Entire tables can also be reserved.

“Father Pacwa’s trademarks have always been his encyclopedic knowledge of Catholicism, unwavering fidelity to the Church’s teachings and engaging personality,” said Derry Connolly, the university’s first president. “We’re honored to have him as our keynote speaker and welcome his support for our institution.”

Father Pacwa is the host of “EWTN Live” and “Threshold of Hope,” which studies the encyclicals of Pope John Paul II. He is also the author of “Father, Forgive Me, For I am Frustrated” and “Catholics and the New Age.”

John Paul the Great Catholic University, which is scheduled to open in Fall 2006, will offer degree programs in technology, business and mass media communications.
