Timeshare Resale Company Bullish On Summer Travel

August 14, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Holiday Resales, a member of the Seattle-based Holiday Group of companies, reports second quarter sales are up 36% compared to the same quarter results a year ago. This statistic reflects the sales of previously owned timeshare weeks sold on the secondary market, valid for exchange privileges at over 3000 resorts worldwide.

"This surge in sales is a healthy indicator for the tourism industry," remarks David Skinner, President and CEO of Holiday Resales. "Our typical customer buys with the intent of using the timeshare property in the next 60 to 90 days. They are making their summer plans now and buying accordingly," Skinner states.

While the leisure travel market has been steadily on the incline for the past few years following the 9/11 travel slump, the 36% increase reported by Holiday Resales is far above the national trend.

"I believe there are two major factors working in our favor," stated Skinner. "We are an online channel, and as e-commerce grows, so too do our sales. Secondly, because 60% of our customers offer repeat business, part of our increase is simply a groundswell coming from our larger customer base."

It's a customer base that is growing by leaps and bounds every week, thanks in part to a recent article in National Geographic's Traveler magazine that gave credence to the great bargains available in timeshare resales, while referencing Holiday Resales as being a major player in the secondary market.

"After years of steadily building our business, the word is quickly spreading that previously owned timeshares are the hottest bargains in today’s vacation market. And Holiday Resales, as an online reseller, offers an easy way to comparison shop and buy the perfect timeshare from over 500 properties worldwide — all from the privacy of your own home. It's a win-win for everyone," concludes Skinner.

Except maybe for the timeshare salespeople sitting idly at the "closing table" at a glitzy resort somewhere in the world. Are the phones brightly ringing at the Holiday Group with people eager to buy sounding the death knell of the high-pressured timeshare sales pitch? Only time(share) will tell.
