October 11, 2008 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
BRAINTREE, MA, October 11, 2008 — The management of Sir Speedy Braintree, a 23-year-old company specializing in four and five color printing and digital services and ranked number one among 400 Sir Speedy franchises worldwide with $6 million in annual sales, announced today that they will shed the Sir Speedy brand effective December 31, 2008. Owners Jim Corliss, Jerry Hogan and Jose Tafur have invited customers to help them create a new name and identity by logging on to their website www.ssbraintree.com. A cash prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the winning entry. Operation of the printing company will remain unchanged with the same 28-person team at the same 230 Wood Road, Braintree location.

"We've had outstanding success these past two decades thanks to our loyal customers," said Jim Corliss. "It makes sense to involve them in this important name change decision as we move into the future. We realize that many franchise owners may think twice before striking out on their own in this uncertain economy, but for us, there has never been a better time. We've accomplished all that we can within the Sir Speedy network, garnering top accolades for sales, service and innovation. Now we'll do that as an independent mid-sized business operating under our own name, by our own rules."

Sir Speedy Braintree Name Change Contest, page two Corliss and Jerry Hogan started their first Sir Speedy franchise in 1982 in Brookline, MA and Jose Tafur joined them a year later. That operation moved to Braintree in 1989 where it outgrew its storefront, necessitating construction of its current 17,000 square foot plant on Braintree's Wood Road. "We began as a quick printer and evolved to meet customer needs, adding state-of-the-art equipment, upgrading technology and embracing digital services. We were the first New England printing company to install a Xerox iGen digital color printer and we've made our website self-service so customers can move from concept to print quickly and affordably," said Corliss.

The name change contest kicked off with an entry form on the company website: www.ssbraintree.com. The winning name will be chosen by the owners, announced on our website and a grand prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the contest winner. "We're excited about the potential names our customers come up with and eager to embark on a new corporate identity campaign that reflects our personality and commitment to printing excellence," said Corliss. "We can't wait to see it incorporated into our signage, website and marketing materials."
