Long Branch, NJ - A New Jersey-based rubber manufacturer of closed cell sponge rubber and plastic foam plans to reintroduce "an old idea whose time has come" at the World of Concrete trade show, set for Feb. 3 - Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.

Monmouth Rubber & Plastics Corp. is reintroducing its recycled Bondaflex , which meets ASTM 1752, as a preferred material for expansion joints in bridges, reservoirs, dams, water treatment plants, runways and other precast or poured concrete applications, according to company President John M. Bonforte Sr.

Contractors, engineers and architects seeking a way to "green" their concrete projects see recycled Bondaflex as the right solution for their expansion joint needs, he said.

"As a direct result of companies looking to go green on their construction projects, we've seen a strong worldwide uptick in interest in recycled Bondaflex," he said.

Monmouth is well-positioned to meet the increased demand because the company is a basic rubber manufacturer of closed cell sponge rubber and plastic foam rather than simply a broker or distributor, Bonforte said. The company is ISO-certified to ISO 9001:2000 and Monmouth has a full physical and shock attenuation laboratory at its Long Branch, N.J., facility.

Bonforte expects to spend most of his time on the trade show floor, discussing new applications for recycled Bondaflex with existing customers and others looking for green solutions to their expansion joint needs.
