The Resort at Glade Springs, Known for West Virginia Family Adventure Vacations, Sees Revenue Growth

February 15, 2009 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Daniels, WV – February 15, 2009 – In a departure from national headline reports that the hotel industry is down by close to 10 or 15%, The Resort at Glade Springs, a family resort in West Virginia, has posted a 10% growth in REVPAR in 2008 over 2007 and a 35% increase in net profits. That trend continued in January 2009 with increased revenues over January 2008. This growth is being realized in a time where other resorts, such as The Greenbrier, are generating historically high losses and the hotel industry is posting double digit declines in occupancies and rates.

Management equates the growth to the fact that the outdoor adventure resort offers tremendous value at affordable prices in stylish comfort. Affordable prices have not been available for comparable amenities at competitive four season resorts in the mid-Atlantic. The Resort at Glade Springs currently offers 36 holes of championship golf on two courses, The Cobb and Stonehaven; with a third 18 hole course, Woodhaven, opening this summer. In addition, this family vacation resort features an equestrian center, indoor and outdoor tennis, and a leisure center with indoor pool, 10-lane bowling, cinema, fitness center, Spa Orange, hair salon, steam room and sauna, indoor basketball and arcade all under one roof. This West Virginia family resort also features a toddler play area.

"Consumers today still want to get away but don't want to break the bank to do it," comments Mary Jo Klein, director of marketing. "Individuals, families and groups alike are eager to enjoy a vacation or getaway to satisfy their recreational and meeting needs. We offer that with really attractive packages, such as our Stay and Ski Free package. Guests are not subjected to alarmingly high meal packages per day and other programs that quickly result in extremely high costs."

In addition, management attributes a lot of the West Virginia vacation resort's success to the marketing efforts made possible by the programs of the West Virginia Division of Tourism. "The State Tourism Matching Grant program has allowed us to continue to market the resort effectively which is very important, especially during these times," added Mary Jo Klein.
The family adventure resort offers a wide variety of beautiful accommodations as well as exceptional opportunities to enjoy the mountains of Southern West Virginia including white water rafting, fly fishing, caving, rock climbing, and much more.
