Taking inspiration from the annual fashion events in London, Milan, Paris and New York, Amsterdam is set to host its very own International Fashion Week next month.

People staying in Amsterdam hotels during the event, which runs from July 18th to July 26th, will be able to get a sneak peek at the spring/summer 2010 collections from a wide selection of established and up-and-coming designers.

As well as catwalk shows, presentations, lectures and trade fairs, an array of parties and other celebrations will take place throughout the city, meaning there is sure to be something for everyone.

Indeed, people keen to try their hand at modelling can apply to get involved with the Fashion Week DOWNTOWN programme, which is currently seeking new faces.

The event has a history dating back to 2004 and is held twice a year in the former Gas Factories in the city's Westergas area to raise the profile of the Dutch fashion world.

"Focusing on Amsterdam's reputation as an inspiring city the Amsterdam International Fashion Week programme combines commerce with creativity. Our city has a lot to offer - a growing pool of talent, an inspiring place to visit and a vibrant place to do business," the organisers explain.

Given the popularity of the event, visitors are advised to secure their hotel rooms as early as possible. LateRooms offers huge range of hotels in Amsterdam ranging from serviced apartments to luxury hotels.

The four star boutique Hotel Vondel is offering double rooms for two adults from £76. This hotel is located in a quiet residential area and only a short walk from the heart of Amsterdam. The hotel has an excellent customer satisfaction rate of 84%.
