October 07, 2004 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
The site is now available in English and in Spanish. A French version is being developed. In November 2004, a comprehensive database (in English and in Spanish) will be added to the website, with detailed information on all specific instances raised by NGOs. Organizations interested in using this database will be able to get access to it with a password that can be obtained at the OECD Watch secretariat.

OECD Watch is an international network of NGOs promoting corporate accountability. The purpose of OECD Watch is to inform the NGO community about policies and activities of the OECD's Investment Committee and to test the effectiveness and usefulness of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises are non-binding recommendations addressed by governments to multinational enterprises operating in or from adhering countries. The Guidelines are supported by the 30 OECD participating countries and eight non-Member countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Estonia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia). They provide voluntary principles and standards for responsible business conduct.
