Closed Cell Rubber Technical Service Unveiled by Monmouth Rubber

"The 'Google' of Rubber" – that's how General Manager John M. Bonforte Sr. describes Monmouth Rubber and Plastics Corp.'s new technical assistance program, "Ask John."

"Our staff has over 100 years of experience in closed cell rubber technology. We can provide information that people can't easily get anywhere else," Bonforte said.

The free service, available to customers and non-customers alike, comes at a critical time for the foam rubber and plastics industries, he said.

"Large chemical companies don't offer technical support anymore, and our competitors have limited staffs. We have the resources and the facilities to help manufacturers, fabricators & OEMs solve their toughest closed cell rubber & plastic questions," Bonforte said, "and we'd like to give something back to the industry."

That "something" ranges from 30-year-old research that sheds light on a new problem to tests run in Monmouth's own lab to determine the right closed cell material for a specific application.

Using Monmouth's "Ask John" service, manufacturers also can:

· Decide whether or not to patent a new product
· Determine both the technical and practical issues surrounding a specific application
· Find the best processing method and material for a production concept

If a manufacturer's request doesn't fit Monmouth's main line of business, the company will still try to point the answer-seeker in the right direction. "Knowing a little bit about a lot of things," Bonforte said, "means we know when to send a manufacturer elsewhere and that we know how to carry on a successful dialogue, whether it's on the shop floor or the top floor."
