IntelliNet Technologies today announced that its Chief Technical Officer, Arun Handa, has authored a book titled "System Engineering for IMS Networks". The book describes the convergence of wireless IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) with other networks, including wireline and cable.

Defined by 3GPP standards, IMS is a network architecture that delivers multimedia services, including Internet content to mobile devices. Taking the best principles of wireless and IP networks, IMS offers a single platform that can interface with services that currently exist across various networks. As converged networks become a reality and mobile users demand more rich media services, this backbone is essential to creating highly-reliable cost-effective networks.

"We are delighted to have this work on IMS by our CTO published at this point in the convergence of networks," said Anjan Ghosal, president and CEO of IntelliNet Technologies. "After its initial slow acceptance, the reality is that IMS continues to be adopted by the world's major network operators."

"System Engineering for IMS Networks" discusses practical implementation strategies for building IMS products. It includes an overview of the IMS protocols and architecture and explores network management issues. It covers application servers and convergence drivers and walks through actual message flow scenarios.

"IMS is a versatile but complex architecture and my goal was to illustrate its potential with real world experience," said Mr. Handa. "I am excited that IMS continues to gain acceptance by multiple service providers and is poised to provide the core network for the Long Term Evolution (LTE) for 4G networks."

The book is published by Newnes, the science and technology publishing arm of Elsevier, Ltd. It is available through Amazon and other dealers. The book includes a free Newnes online membership.
