Major Truck Dealer Accelerates AP and Payroll Processing Using ACOM's iBridge Utility to Link IBM iSeries and Windows Worlds

Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Long Beach, California, October 15, 2009 – Worldwide Equipment, Inc, one of America's largest truck dealers and a long-time user of ACOM's EZeDocs/400 electronic document solution, has implemented ACOM's EZPayManager payment management system on a Microsoft Windows platform, eliminating the use of multiple preprinted check forms for accounts payable and payroll for the dealer's 30+ facilities.

The company continues to process the data on its iSeries 520 computer, according to IT Manager Wayne Dyer. Now, however, the data file is renamed with an ASCII compatible designation, converted to ASCII format using ACOM's recently announced iBridge utility, and downloaded to the Windows environment for laser printing on blank security check stock.

EZPayManager allows companies to generate ACH payments electronically or by laser-printed check in any combination and to distribute remittance advice as paper copies, by email, fax or web-post. It also has numerous options for security, archiving and recipient self-service.

According to Dyer, the company's payment requirements for all of its locations totaled some 1,300 checks per week and in the past required his department to support six different check forms as well as multiple dedicated check printers. Check and remittance form runs were sequential, reloading the printers for each new production run.

In the new payment environment, the check forms are stored in EZPayManager as electronic check templates. Data for the payment runs is processed on the company's iSeries 520 and sent to an IFS folder with an IP address. It is renamed, converted to text format by the iBridge utility and downloaded to EZPayManager for printing on blank check stock.

"Running the checks in the Windows environment provides us with great speed and flexibility," Dyer said. "We now do all of the check runs at once. This is a great time-saver because of the speed of the printers and the fact that check stock doesn't have to be changed out for each different check run. It also saves management time, since the checks are signed as they are produced."

The next phase of the implementation will be conversion of many of the company's vendors to ACH payments using ACOM's secure Vendor Self-Service module, he said.
