LateRooms.com can announce that The Fiesta de San Valero in Zaragoza is a classic Spanish celebration.

In January every year, the city pays homage to its patron saint (San Valero) by throwing street parties and organising rock concerts.

As the events are free to attend, it's a must for anyone staying in hotels in Zaragoza during January.

One of the highlights of the fiesta is the baking of a giant roscon - a type of round fruit cake and a local speciality - which is shared out among the crowds in the Plaza del Pilar.

This usually takes place at 10:00 local time on the day of the festival after the cake has been blessed and attracts approximately 10,000 people.

Much of the action is based around the Plaza de los Sitios, where a number of workshops and events will take place for single travellers and families alike.

Due to be held at the end of January 2010, it is an essential event for anyone who wants to have an authentic taste of Spanish culture.

Commenting on the Fiesta de San Valero, Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, said: "We strongly urge people thinking of going to the Fiesta de San Valero and who need hoteles en Zaragoza to book early to avoid disappointment."
