October is Lupus Awareness month, and the Lupus Alliance of America LI/Q Affiliate which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, is pleased to announce that the 12th Annual “Walk Along for Lupus” will take place on October 16th, at Eisenhower Park, Field 6, in East Meadow. Registration starts at 8:30am, rain or shine.

Over 2000 participants are expected for the 5K walk and for the festivities that include, lunch, clowns, magicians, face painting, the USA Skateasauras, music and more. Last year the Walk Along raised over $275,000, 90% of that money was donated by individuals and teams made up of local families.

The “Walk Along for Lupus” is the most successful lupus walk in the country that not only supports lupus research but also supports the individual with lupus as well.

Over 1.5 million Americans have lupus; someone you know may be among them. Help the Lupus Alliancecontinue their tradition of serving those with lupus while searching for a cure, by walking on October 16th.

The Lupus Alliance has been helping families affected by lupus since 1955. Not only do they have services for people with lupus in the Long Island/Queens area, but through their website they have many services for those with lupus in other states that need help, information and support.

All the proceeds from the walk will go towards expanding and continuing the many quality of life programs that the Alliance offers to those with lupus, as well as to new and novel lupus research, which will hpoefully one day lead to a cure.

For questions or to register for this event please call the office at 1-800-850-9000 or visit their website at www.lupusliqueens.org, where you can register and collect funds for the walk right online.
