AsiaRooms.com can announce that a celebration of Singapore's art and culture will be taking place as part of the Chinese new year celebrations next month.

The Huayi festival was established in 2003 and has developed into one of the highlights of the city's festive season, with many people enjoying its diverse programme of music, dance and theatre events.

Running from February 19th to 28th, this year's Huayi promises to be another success and should feature on the itineraries of people using hotels in Singapore.

Those attending the festival can look forward to appearances from Taiwanese singer songwriter Sandee Chan and Chinese music star Peggy Hsu.

There will also be an operatic performance of Kong Shangren's Peach Blossom Fan, which has been described by Huayi's organisers as "one of the most heartrending works of Chinese opera ever written".

Man and Woman, War and Peace, a play by the Hong Kong director Edward Lam, is expected to be another highlight of the Huayi programme.

Described as "a fast-paced, sharply witty urban play about the perennial love/hate relationship between the senses", the drama stars Taiwanese actress Ariel Lin and Hong Kong pop star Denise Ho.

Tickets for the Huayi events are individually priced, with seats for Man and Woman, War and Peace starting at S$38 (£16).
