AsiaRooms.com can announce that people staying in Siem Reap hotels may like to experience an upcoming event in the Cambodian capital.

Phnom Penh's French Cultural Centre will be presenting La Rue Danse on Sunday February 28th, when local dancers are set to perform choreography in the esplanade surrounding Wat Botum.

The event is sure to be a memorable spectacle, as one of the city's five original temples will be providing the backdrop.

First built in 1422, the structure is known as the Temple of the Lotus Blossoms, as the original site was a small island surrounded by lotus-filled waters.

Located south of the royal palace, the distinctive pagoda is the centre of Cambodia's Thammayut sect of Buddhism.

It is open from 07:00 to 17:00 local time each day, although people hoping to catch La Rue Danse will need to stay around until 19:00 on the night of the event.

The French Cultural Centre was established in 1992 and aims to promote an appreciation of the French language, art and culture in Cambodia.

As well as its Phnom Penh headquarters, the centre also has a branch in Siem Reap, which opened in 1994.
