AsiaRooms.com reports the area around Singapore's East Coast Park will provide the venue for another major test of athletic endurance in April.

Top competitors from around the world take part in the OSIM Singapore Triathlon, which is sanctioned by the International Triathlon Union and presented by the Triathlon Association of Singapore.

Participants must complete a 1.5km swim in the sea before changing to the 40km cycle course and finishing with a 10km run.

The standard triathlon takes place on Sunday April 11th, but athletes using hotels in Singapore who favour a less gruelling challenge can try the sprint category on April 10th.

This version of the race consists of a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run.

Although the registration period ended on February 16th, people heading to Singapore in April may still like to head down to East Coast Park and cheer on the athletes as they bid for glory.

All registered participants are required to attend the Race Expo on April 7th and 8th, when they will receive a race kit and goodie bag.

Singapore is a hub of triathlon activity at this time of year, with the Ironman 70.3 event due to take place on March 23rd.
