LateRooms.com reports there will be a huge buzz among the cinema crowd in Milan this spring as the 20th African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival offers up a feast for the eyes and ears.

As well as being a showcase for a huge variety of flicks from these continents, there is a competitive element to proceedings as there are several prizes to be won.

About 80 videos are set to be screened this year and the best will be entered to contend the Windows on the World accolade for fiction feature and documentary content, while there are also prizes for the best documentary, short fiction and overall film produced in Africa.

Taking place from March 15th to 21st, the festival is supported by various organisations such as the Comune di Milano and is sure to see a huge turnout from movie lovers staying at Milan hotels .

The programme for the event will be published on the festival's website about two weeks before it starts, with showings occurring at seven different venues across the city.

While one cinema pass costs €5 (£4.35), travellers can purchase a ticket that will get them into every film for €25 or €15 for students and the elderly.

The first edition of the festival took place in 1991 and featured a retrospective on Senegalese cinema and a section on children's rights.

If you're heading to the African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotel Milano as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
