AsiaRooms.com can announce that surfing fans staying at hotels in Kuta may be tempted by a forthcoming round of the 2010 Rip Curl GromSearch Tour.

Taking place at West Java's Cimaja beach on April 18th, this event represents stage two in the Indonesian series of surf competitions, which culminates with the national final in Kuta on October 23rd.

According to the organisers, the Rip Curl GromSearch is intended to give local surfers the chance to compete on the world stage.

Designed to find the best "groms" - a term for young surfers - in each region, the competition offers an opportunity for the most talented wave riders to take part in the world final at Bells Beach in Australia next year.

"We want to help you to bring your tropical surfing style of jungle rawness to the world stage of surfing," Rip Curl has stated.

The Indonesian series is already underway, having started with an event at Lakey Peak in Sumbawa on March 7th.

Kuta is known as one of Bali's surfing hotspots, so many young athletes from the area will be interested in showing their skills at Cimaja.

Popular with surfers based in Jakarta, the beach is close to the fishing village of Pelabuhan Ratu, which has developed into a surfing mecca in recent years.
