AsiaRooms.com can reveal that anyone with an interest in locally produced artwork may want to book themselves into Siem Reap hotels next month.

The Phnom Penh Post revealed that a new art exhibition is set to open in the town on April 10th.

In what journalist Peter Olszewski described as "a biggie" for the region, 12 new pieces by Texte de Sera, a Cambodian national who is now a Parisian expat, will go on show.

Entitled Desire, Mr Olszewski said that it is "hotly anticipated" by the local community.

According to Christian de Boer, who is organising the exhibition, the latest works from de Sera "combines the emotional intensity and self-denial of the German expressionists with the anti-figurative aesthetic of the European abstract schools".

The exhibition will be on display at the Hotel de la Paix from 18:30 (local time) on April 10th until early June.

De Sera left Cambodia for France in 1975 at the age of 13 when the capital city, Phnom Penh, fell to the Khmer Rouge.

He went on to study the arts in Paris and has had several exhibitions in the French capital.

His latest collection has been created on canvas and paper using ink, pastel and acrylics.
