AsiaRooms.com can reveal that film lovers staying in Dubai hotels may find a local festival to be the perfect place to enjoy a good movie.

The Dubai Arts and Culture Authority has announced its support for the third annual 2010 Gulf Film Festival (GFF), which is set to take place in April.

According to the group's chief projects officer Saeed Al Nabouda, a "strong showing of regional talent" is expected to be on offer at this year's event.

He added that the work of local filmmakers "provides an interesting cross-section of stories that offer a glimpse of the Arab world and its people".

Scheduled to take place between April 8th and 14th, the international event showcases a mix of short films, documentaries, feature films and is designed to promote the best of Arab cinema.

Participants can enter into one of three competitions - film, student or script - with a number of cash rewards on offer for the best entries.

Last year's event screened a total of 169 films from 32 countries and hosted a total of 18 international premieres.
