April 05, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News can reveal that acclaimed Broadway musical Chicago is set to come to Hong Kong this spring as part of a limited tour of Asia.

Guests staying in hotels in Hong Kong will be able to take in the famous production from May 20th to June 6th at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

The musical is set in 1920s Chicago and tells the story of nightclub dancer Roxie Hart, who kills her lover and then convinces her husband to pay smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn to defend her at her trial. In prison, she befriends fame-hungry vaudeville star Velma Kelly and the pair hatch a plan to make it as big stars in the city.

According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical is likely to be one of the highlights of the year in the city.

Many holidaymakers who have not previously seen a live performance of Chicago may be familiar with the 2002 film version of the musical, which starred Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart, Catherine Zeta Jones as Velma Kelly and Richard Gere as Billy Flynn.
