LateRooms.com reports if travellers want to see something a bit different yet still cultural during their stay in Barcelona, they could think about heading to a local festival called the Fira de San Ponc.

The event runs on May 11th every year and can be found on Calle Hospital, where a whole host of stalls are set out to honour the titular San Ponc - the patron saint of beekeepers.

Foodies staying at accommodation in Barcelona while the festival is on may be excited to hear that there are plenty of natural products to peruse and purchase, such as honey, candied fruit and herbal wine.

But it is not just culinary delights which can be bought at the annual event, as people may be intrigued by the perfumes and other items that are on show at the event.

Describing a previous edition of the festival, Barcelona Travel Guide blogger Misha labelled the occasion "delightful".

"The herbalists display stuff for all you aches and pains and several beekeepers brought closed frames with the bees inside," they added.

Anyone concerned about prices need not worry as the event is free to attend and people do not have to buy anything to enjoy the atmosphere and discover strange new items.

The first sellers will begin appearing early in the morning, according to the Travel Channel.

To make the most of the Fira de San Ponc - you should consider booking your hoteles en Barcelona to avoid disappointment.
