LateRooms.com can reveal that a peculiar film event is taking place in Paris this May - entitled The Very Short International Film Festival, it showcases movies that last less than three minutes each.

Running from May 7th to 9th, the 12th edition of this occasion will show the shortlisted finalists' efforts, with the organisers claiming that the entrants this year have been "rich and plentiful".

Travellers at accommodation in Paris will have the chance to see the 72 best videos, which have been picked from more than 1,000 applicants.

There are prizes for the filmmakers, with four gongs awarded by people in the audience.

Describing the event, its organisers stated: "A myriad of Très Court (Very Short Films) chosen for their originality, their boldness, their sense of humour, their generosity, their bad taste … and maybe even for their technical qualities."

Part of the festival's originality lies in the fact that screenings of the films will take place simultaneously across about 50 cities in France, with the collection being displayed at Forum des Images in Paris.

Check the website for a full itinerary, but showings will begin at 20:00 (local time) on Friday May 7th, 17:00 on May 8th and 15:00 on May 9th, with tickets costing €5 (£4.30) for each session or €9 for the whole festival.
