– Participate in the 2010 Laguna Phuket International Marathon on 13 June

April 14, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Sports News announces that the Laguna Phuket International Marathon is returning for its fifth edition on 13 June 2010. Featuring a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10k run, a 5k walk and a 2k kids' run, this is one of the most anticipated athletic events of the year in Thailand.

The Laguna Phuket International Marathon is a family-friendly event, and is one of the only marathons in the world that offers a range of events for all levels and ages of athletes. The entire course has water stations every 1.5 to 2 kilometres providing water, sponges, electrolytes and fruits, with portable toilets placed at regular intervals.

The event initially began with just under 2,000 participants but has grown annually with last year's event hosting more than 4,500 participants, including 1,500 international runners from 43 different countries. Over 5,000 participants are expected for the 2010 event.

The course is considered one of the most scenic in the world, heading north out of Laguna and then passing through the local villages and rubber plantations. This allows runners to view some of the most scenic and lush vegetation that Phuket has to offer, making the marathon more than just an athletic event, but also a chance to explore the beauty of this picturesque Thai island.

It is expected that many of the Phuket hotels throughout the island will be filled with either participating athletes or spectators.
