LateRooms.com highlights football fans may want to begin booking their Barcelona hotels as the city has been announced as the location for the Copa del Rey finals, which will be contested by Sevilla and Atlético Madrid.

The two sides had to beat Getafe and Racing to reach the final of this prestigious football competition, which will be played on Wednesday May 19th at Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium.

Current Spanish champions and league leaders Barcelona, who count the Camp Nou as their home stadium, were knocked out by Sevilla in the second round, while fellow title contenders this year Real Madrid were dumped out in the first round by lowly Alcorcón.

Sevilla will be in high spirits after knocking out Deportivo as well as the Barcelona and Getafe on their way to the final, with the side boasting international stars Luis Fabiano and Freddi Kanoute in their strike force, who will be a handful to contain.

Atlético Madrid had a slightly easier route after drawing Marbella, Recreativo and Celta along the way and on paper they look like the underdogs as they are further down the Spanish league than their opponents.

It is the first time that the Nou Camp has staged the event in 30 years and if any travellers want to attend they can purchase them online or at the box office when they go on sale.

Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for the Copa del Rey finals is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hoteles Barcelona as early as possible."
