LateRooms.com - Race for the Cure returns to Rome

LateRooms.com divulges if travellers in hotels in Rome want to experience a heart-warming display of athleticism during their stay in the historic Italian city, they could head down to the Race for the Cure.

Last year saw more than 43,000 people throw on their running shoes and walk, jog or run the event and many others line the streets to cheer on the runners, who take part to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer charities.

The race sees participants run around many of the most beautiful sites in the city, with the start and finish line situated by the Stadio delle Terme di Caracalla.

If this mini-marathon - now in its tenth year and measuring 5 km - seems a little too much like hard work, then people can enrol in the 2 km scenic walk or take part in one of the many other competitions and activities happening on the day - May 16th.

"First organised in May 2000 by the Susan G Komen Foundation in collaboration with the City of Rome and the University Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, this was the first Komen race to be run outside the United States," stated travel website What's on When.

The minimum donation for people to line-up and take part in the race is €10, with the transaction able to be carried out online, with the challenge beginning at 10:00 (local time).

Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for Race for the Cure is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hotel Roma as early as possible."
