- Race ahead with the Laguna Phuket International Marathon

April 30, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News reports anyone who enjoys going for a long run may want to enter into the Laguna Phuket International Marathon and book Phuket hotels to help them recover after the race.

Boasting a course that runs along Phuket's white sand beaches and through its green rubber plantations, it is a beautiful setting for a marathon.

People staying in Thailand hotels who do not feel that they can complete the 42km course on June 13th can opt to take part in one of the shorter races - either a half-marathon or 10.5km run.

There is also a 5km walking course and a 2km kid's run.

It is the fifth year that Phuket has held its marathon and anyone who wants to take part must register before June 5th.

Depending on the event entered, participation costs between 150 baht (£3) and 3,400 baht.

If running all that way in the hot weather seems like too much effort, then tourists can always pick a spot along the route and watch as the runners go by.

Ahead of race day, the Laguna Beach Resort will hold its pasta party, where runners can meet up before taking to the course.

As well as the wide range of pasta dishes on offer, there will also be a band providing live music for the diners.
