While traditional arts are the main focus of 'the Grec', contemporary performances and artists have added to the appeal of the festival in recent years, including pop singers and theatre groups like travelling circuses.

Centred as always at the magnificent open-air amphitheatre; Teatre Grec de Montjuïc – on the site of the 1992 summer Olympics, the festival will also feature dozens of performances at venues across the city including Plaça del Rei, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya the Teatre Lliure, the Mercat de les Flors and L'Auditori.

Those hoping to attend performances are advised by the organisers to get tickets early, and also confirm accommodation well before the event. Hotels are known to quickly become fully booked during the summer months as it is one the Mediterranean's most popular tourist cities.
