LateRooms.com can announce that if travellers want to see examples of some of the finest and most respected pieces of tapestry ever woven then they would do well to get down to Madrid's Prado Museum, where William de Pannermaker - The Mercury Series is set to be displayed.

This wonderful exhibition opens on June 1st and will run until September 26th, with the curators explaining that this is the first time that all eight of these masterpieces will be shown together and represents a unique opportunity for guests at Madrid hotels.

William de Pannemaker supplied the courts of Charles I of Spain and his son Philip II, as well as many other royal families of 16th century Europe.

"Active from 1535 to 1581, Willem de Pannemaker was a member of one of the most celebrated families of weavers in Brussels. [He] is considered the great tapestry-maker of the Flemish Renaissance," noted the venue.

He lived from 1535 to 1581 and his work has previously been spread out among various top art museums around the world such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Fundación Ducal Medicaceli, which manages historic and artistic property in Spain with the aim of restoring and preserving it.

Entrance to the Prado Museum costs €8 (£6.80), with the venue opening from Tuesday to Sunday 09:00 to 20:00.

The art space is closed on Mondays.
