AsiaRooms.com divulges people staying in accommodation in Seminyak during June would do well to take a day trip to the nearby city of Denpasar.

From June 12th until July 10th, the island will be hosting its annual Bali Arts Festival.

There is one evening in particular that could provide special entertainment for those staying on the island.

On June 25th, audiences at the Ksirarnawa Hall will be treated to a Balinese puppet show, which is described as a modern evening of entertainment but that will still use traditional Wayang, or Indonesian shadow puppets.

These flat cut-out figures are used to tell ancient stories and religious mythology to a captivated audience.

At this evening of entertainment, visitors will have two hours - from 20:00 until 22:00 (local time) - of story-telling to look forward to.

The puppets will be presented as silhouettes against a translucent white screen, which is traditionally illuminated by a coconut-husk lamp.

A dalang - or puppet master - will re-enact the tales, while also providing music to accompany the show.

The performance scheduled for June 25th is one of many due to be held as part of the Bali Arts Festival.
