- Enjoy some badminton at the Singapore Open

May 23, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News highlights people who enjoy spending a day watching sports should consider booking accommodation in Singapore next month.

From June 15th until June 20th, the city will be hosting the Singapore Open badminton tournament.

The event, which is sponsored by Li-Ning, will see some of the best badminton players from around the world step out on court to compete for the title.

In March, organisers revealed that the tournament had been awarded Super Series Status by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

This means that it is one of 12 events organised by the BWF to attract the top players in the sport, with a Super Series Final held at the end of the season.

Outside of the major competitions, such as the Olympics and World Championships, this is the top tier of the sport.

All the action will be played out at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, with ticket prices starting from S$12 (£5.86) for the qualifying rounds, reaching up to S$22 for the finals.

Tickets are cheaper when purchased in advance, however, they will still be available from the venue throughout the tournament's duration.

For more information on this event visit the Singapore Open website or contact the venue on +65 6348 5555.
