- Brisbane gears up for State of Origin

May 28, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News can reveal that people who enjoy nothing more than watching some exciting sporting action during a holiday should book Brisbane hotels in June.

This is because one of the biggest events in the Australian sporting calendar will be taking place in the city on June 16th.

State of Origin is an annual series of three matches between rugby league teams from Queensland and New South Wales.

Each year, the two sides play a best-of-three event, with the first game held in Sydney and the second game in Brisbane, with a deciding tie back in Sydney if required.

Anyone visiting Brisbane will find that thousands of fans will be out in force to support the Queensland side.

The second match of the series is being held at the Brisbane Suncorp Stadium.

New South Wales and Queensland will square up for the first of the contests later this week, on May 26th, with the winner taking an obvious advantage to the second game.

As well as the main event, there will also be two preliminary games played during the afternoon.

The first of these is the XXXX Challenge Queensland Final, which will kick off at 16:25 (local time), followed by the U18 Queensland vs New South Wales match, which takes place from 18:05. At 20:00, the big game will get underway.

For more information on this event visit the Brisbane Suncorp Stadium website or contact the venue on +61 7 3331 5000.
