Toot! Toot!*: CreativeLatitude.com focuses on restaurant logo design

Designer and author Jeff Fisher turns the spotlight on the design of restaurant logo and identity design in the most recent installment of his "Logo Notions" column on the graphics industry web site CreativeLatitude.com. The article, "Designs on dining: Restaurant logos as a graphic invitation to a meal and an experience," ( link: http://tinyurl.com/clduq ) features the work of Sayles Graphic Design of Des Moines, IA; Creative Madhouse located in Fort Worth, TX; the Pawtucket, RI based Fresh Oil; and the San Francisco firm StudioMoon. The designers relate anecdotes, project process methods and challenging experiences in creating the visual identities for a wide variety of eating establishments throughout the United States and at a Caribbean locale. According to Fisher, "The challenges of such projects most often raise their ugly heads in the form of budget limitations and the lateness of some restaurant owners to initiate the logo/identity design process for their new business in a timely manner – especially when the scheduling of projects for other vendors are overlooked." The lessons in the article are presented to help both designers and restaurateurs successfully navigate the restaurant identity process.
