- Sail away with the RSYC Regatta in Singapore

June 16, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News highlights people who are staying in Singapore hotels at the end of July and have an interest in all things maritime may find that the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC) Regatta is worth watching.

Competitors in the sailing event will go head to head for four different trophies.

Races in the regatta will be held across three dates in July and August, starting on July 25th, with July 31st and August 1st the other two race days.

Solo sailors will compete in certain categories, while boats with larger crews will also have the opportunity to go for glory.

All of the participants will moor their vessels at the city's marina ahead of the big day so travellers could have a chance to see some of the boats at close quarters before they head out to sea.

The RSYC was established in 1826 and prides itself on being the oldest yachting club in Asia.

All of the race courses are laid out in the waters around the southern islands of Singapore, with hundreds of people expected to take part.

Keelboats of varying sizes will line up to compete, with a mixture of passage and short course races due to take place.
