LONG BRANCH, N.J. – With the recent closing of a Virginia-based rubber bun manufacturer, Monmouth Rubber & Plastics Corp. has announced that equivalent replacements are available for the defunct company's products.

Monmouth carries a full line of materials that are equivalent to the closed cell sponge rubber and plastic foam stocks formerly supplied by Rubatex, said John Bonforte Jr., Monmouth's COO.

"We can assist any of Rubatex's customers with their material needs," he said, noting that Monmouth Rubber has manufactured and sold its own Durafoam™ closed cell foam and sponge rubber for 40+ years without interruption. The company's ISO 9001:2008 certification testifies to its continuing commitment to quality and customer service, he said.

While the closing of another U.S. rubber maker is disappointing, it does not represent the death knell for American industry, Bonforte added.

"Manufacturing in the United States is not dead," he emphasized. "We're a successful owner-operated manufacturing operation, serving a number of customers who also own successful, U.S. factories."
