Todd Lokken from Strategic Fantasy Football nominates early busts for 2005 season.

Todd Lokken, President of Strategic Fantasy Football, has named the top three fantasy busts thus far in 2005. The three players are Peyton Manning, Daunte Culpepper, and Marvin Harrison.

"This is what makes fantasy football great", Lokken says. "All three players were no doubt drafted in the first round of most leagues, and all three are way down on their expected performance". In fact, both Manning and Culpepper are behind Drew Bledsoe, Gus Frerotte, and Trent Dilfer thus far in 2005. "If you would have told me that Gus Frerotte would outperform Peyton Manning at any time during 2005, I would have bet you my house!" Lokken states.

While the performance of Manning and Harrison is directly related to the Colts' slow start on offense, Culpepper's is most likely the result of the Vikings adjusting to the loss of Randy Moss. However, Culpepper and the Vikings did break out in week three, so the QB's time on this list may be over. On the other hand, the Colts, with virtually the same lineup from last year, have surprisingly yet to have an offensive outburst in 2005.

Although it may not be fair to judge players with just three games in the books, it should be pointed out that each of these players were expected to carry their respective fantasy teams for the year. If they do not perform one week, the team may be ok. Two weeks of poor stats places a fantasy team in an early hole. Three weeks? You may want to start looking at next year.

"I'm sure the list will change again, as the Colts will certainly break out of the slump. What will be interesting is to see who will replace them on this list", says Lokken.
