ATINAV AND BRAINBOXES PARTNER TO OFFER INTEGRATED BLUETOOTH HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

October 25, 2004 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Atinav, a leading provider of Internet-based and wireless software for communication and workplace collaboration, today announced a partnership with Brainboxes, a 20-year supplier of connectivity solutions for a wide range of applications, providing an impressive customer list, with early entry to emerging technologies. Within the terms of this partnership, Atinav provides its Bluetooth Solution, a complete implementation of the Bluetooth Protocol Stack, Profiles and Application Programmers Interface in embedded systems, Windows, WinCE and Java, for use in specific applications, with Brainboxes' cutting edge adapters, converters and embedded modules.

Brainboxes was one of the first companies developing products for Bluetooth, earning it the distinction of being one of the first companies to meet the demanding qualifications standards for Bluetooth-certified hardware in 2001. Brainboxes' wide range of Bluetooth solutions are fully qualified for Bluetooth certification. Brainboxes also announced the release of an updated version of its Bluetooth hardware, which will be compliant with the latest version of the Bluetooth specification (v1.2). The move to v1.2 will give Brainboxes all of the advantages of the improved Bluetooth specification while retaining full backwards compatibility with existing Bluetooth equipment. With the introduction of v1.2 firmware, Brainboxes' hardware will deliver the advantages of fast
connect and AFH (Adaptive Frequency Hopping), which helps reduce interference with other 2.4GHz radios.

The aveLink Bluetooth Stack is implemented according to Bluetooth SIG 1.2/1.1 specification and is interoperable with all other standard Bluetooth Protocol Stacks. Other aveLink products include aveLink UPnP, which enables pervasive peer-to-peer network connectivity and a zero configuration network that enables network devices of all forms; aveLink OSGi, an officially certified OSGi 3.0 compliant framework by the OSGi Alliance, which can be used as a platform for service delivery in offices, homes,
vehicles and even for mobile computing in a PDA; and aveLink Framework, which allows heterogeneous devices to communicate with each other, to use the functionality offered by each and enable accessibility from browser/non-browser based clients through any type of network.

"We have been impressed by the expertise of the Atinav team, and their business model of providing a ‘perfect fit customized design' is in direct harmony with Brainboxes' corporate strategy,' said Eamonn Walsh, managing director of Brainboxes. "This unique combination has enabled both companies to provide comprehensive Bluetooth solutions resulting in impressive business wins.'

"Brainboxes, who joined the Bluetooth SIG in 2000, was one of the first companies with the vision to identify the potential of the technology and a natural choice of hardware provider in the deployment of Atinav's aveLink Bluetooth solutions,' said Salman Ali, manager of aveLink Strategy & Business Development. "The unique combination of Brainboxes' wide range of high-performance Bluetooth hardware and Atinav's robust software solutions has made it possible to provide end-users with a product solution that integrates hardware and software with Bluetooth connectivity, ensuring excellent customer user experience.'
