Brookfield Homes has reduced the tax rate to 1.21 percent at Rockrose at The Foothills, giving the Carlsbad new home neighborhood one of the lowest tax rates in the city.

"We're doing all that we can to accommodate the needs of homebuyers," said Lora Heramb, vice president of sales and marketing for Brookfield Homes. "By offering one of the lowest new home tax rates in Carlsbad, in addition to money-saving green features, we're providing homebuyers with the ultimate in savings and value."

Rockrose is among the lowest tax rates for new homes in Carlsbad. The 1.21 percent rate is based on the Rockrose median sales price of $659,000. The tax rate will increase or decrease based upon the actual sales price of the home.

Only one home remains for sale in Phase 1A at Rockrose, and Phase 1B is now selling with one sale already logged. Move-ins are anticipated for September. Prices range from the mid $600,000s. With every home exceeding California's energy standards by at least 35 percent, Rockrose offers the most energy-efficient new homes in San Diego County, and Brookfield Homes is the first and only builder in San Diego County with production homes at these increased efficiency levels. With many standard green features included, homeowners will realize added savings and value when living in an eco-savvy Rockrose home.

"Contrary to what many might think, green does not cost more at Rockrose," Heramb continued. "While we have incorporated many increased efficiencies, Rockrose is competitively priced so buyers benefit from an eco-savvy home and ongoing energy savings."

Energy efficiency is one of six areas of eco-savvy concentration incorporated into every home at Rockrose. The others are: water conservation, waste reduction, indoor air quality, sustainable building materials / wood conservation, and renewable energy / solar power (optional).

Upon completion, Rockrose at The Foothills will feature 101 single-family detached homes ranging from 2,116 to 3,167 square feet. The one- and two-story floor plans have three to four bedrooms and two to 4.5 baths.

The neighborhood is located just three miles from the ocean in one of Southern California's most sought-after cities. Carlsbad is widely known for its recreation, shopping and quality schools.
