ImprovJacksonville Comedy Theatre (IJCT) recently celebrated their one-year anniversary on Hemming Plaza with the 1st Annual Laugh Fest. The Laugh Fest was a four-day festival that the troupe will continue to host every year. Events during the Laugh Fest included improv, sketch, stand-up comedy, and art.
Immediately following their anniversary IJCT announced today that they are moving to the Jacksonville Landing. The new theatre will be located inside the Jacksonville Landing adjacent to the Nine West Shoe Store. The new IJCT theatre will be opening its doors on Friday, October 7.

Troupe Director Scott Abrams said that construction on the new theatre is already underway and plans are to seat 100 people. Abrams also said that the theatre includes a bar for patrons to visit before and after a show.

Executive Director of IJCT, Aimée Jones, is very excited about the opportunity to forge relationships with existing businesses to make The Landing a true entertainment district. “We hope to build partnerships with our neighbors to provide residents and visitors of downtown Jacksonville with a place where you can grab dinner, drinks and a show.”

IJCT will offer patrons many different events for the month of October, including a Halloween Wine Tasting, Halloween Improv Shows as well as an open mic night for stand-up comedy. IJCT will continue their regular, weekly line-up of six improvisational shows, improvisational workshops open to the public and ImprovJacksonville Comedy Traffic School,

ImprovJacksonville, established in 2000, is Jacksonville’s only professional improvisational comedy troupe. The group also conducts corporate workshops on communication, creativity and teambuilding. ImprovJacksonville is proud to have worked with CSX, the City of Jacksonville, Wachovia Bank, Jacksonville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Vistakon.
