National Bank of Dominica Executive Manager Human Resource & Organisational Development in his capacity as Chairman of Education & Training of the Dominica Employers' Federation (DEF) has rekindled the DEF's learning and development thrust during 2009/2010.

President of the Dominica Employers' Federation, Mr Clement Carty, in addressing DEF's 41st Annual General Meeting pointed out that the organisation had placed renewed emphasis on the Education and Training of its members. He indicated that the DEF had conducted needs assessments and had determined the main areas for development. Mr Carty singled out development of supervisory management throughout the local business sector as a major area of focus for the coming financial year.

During 2009/2010 due to heavy demand the Education & Training Committee had to repeat the course "The Employees' Right to work vs. Employers' Right to Terminate Employment." This course provided managers with a hands-on orientation to employment law and practices in Dominica. DEF's Education & Training agenda aims to boost productivity and to further enhance the industrial relations climate in the country. During the financial year 2010/2011 the employment law course will again be added to the DEF course menu in addition to courses on supervisory skills, conflict management, occupational safety & health, customer care excellence and briefings for new managers.

Justice Albert Matthew, the guest speaker at the Annual General Meeting, deliberated on the topic "Westminster Constitutions & Parliamentary Democracy." The business meeting followed in which the AGM dealt with the usual matters including the election of members to the Committee of Management. The Annual General Meeting of the Dominica Employers' Federation was held at the Public Service Training Centre on Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard, Roseau on Tuesday 17 August 2010.

The National Bank of Dominica Limited is an active member of the Dominica Employers' Federation.
