AXIOMTEK introduces new Industrial Communication Switches

September 30, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
In response to the need for intelligent and hardened Ethernet solutions specifically designed for rugged industrial and infrastructure deployments, AXIOMTEK introduced its iCOM-49224SFC8-GT-U 16-port 10/100 base-TX and 8-port 100 base-FX and 2-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Copper Harden Managed Switch and iCOM-49224SFC8-SX-U 16-port 10/100 base-TX and 8-port 100 base-FX and 2-port 1000-SX Harden Managed Switch. The switches are part of its iCOM 4000 solutions, featuring a tailored family of products, services, and support to meet the increasing demands in industrial automation, facility management, waste treatment, power utility, FTTx (Fiber-to-the-X), telecommunication, transportation ,and all other mission-critical applications that require reliable Ethernet connectivity, network redundancy, extended temperature, and even over-voltage protection features. The switches offer the path of converging data, voice, and video onto the IP-based fiber infrastructures and reap the benefits of emerging Internet communications.

These switches offer the following competitive features to its customers:

Hardened Design
The hardware design of the switches support the most demanding and diverse applications under harsh environments. The series supports NEMA TS-1/2, extended temperature from -34°C to +74°C, IEEE 1613, IEEE 61800-3, IEC 61850-3, IEC 61000-6-2, zero-packet loss fiber connection, fail-safe fault-tolerance, and other key hardened features. The series is built to withstand all kinds of harsh requirements and still delivers unmatched performance.

Intelligent Management
The switches are equipped with intelligent network management functions like Web Management, SNMP v2/v3, RMON, Spanning Tree, VLAN Tagging, IGMP, and QoS to monitor the performance of optical networks. These functions can accommodate the demand of doubtless scalability, reliability, and efficiency of converged networks.

Gigabit Bandwidth
The switches support 2 Gigabit connection ports either in one 10/100/1000 Mbps copper or one 1000-SX fiber. The Gigabit bandwidth provides the needed speed and flow to mission-critical deployments.

The switches are part of iCommunication or iCOM product family that AXIOMTEK plans to add to its lineup. However, AXIOMTEK’s iCOM 4000 Series consists of a wide-range of unmanaged and managed media converters and Fiber Ethernet switches built upon unparalleled knowledge in hardened Ethernet technology that exceeds many industry standards and denies competition. Its variety in wired or wireless fiber optic connectivity gives users the flexibility in extending their networks beyond conventional ways.
