Crowds are expected to flock to Perth at the end of next month for Australia's largest annual multi-sports event, the Australian University Games.

The various competitions which make up the Games will take place between September 26th and October 1st 2010, with the organisers stating that this year's spectacle is already proving to be one of the most anticipated of all time.

More than 5,000 students from 41 different universities are set to contest 31 sports, meaning there should be something to please even the most demanding of tourists staying in the fine accommodation Perth has available.

Ultimate frisbee, soccer, netball and water polo will be just a few of the sports on the bill at the event, which is staged at 27 venues across the city.

University of Western Australia Sports Council president and student Grey Johnson has already expressed his excitement at the event's return to Perth.

"It's great that the Games are here, because Perth has a lot to offer to sport in Australia," he remarked, adding that the university normally takes plenty of participants to the occasion.

Perth city hotels customers will get their first glimpse of this year's action at the Royal Freshwater Bay Club on September 26th, when the first day of the team sailing races is held.

The proceedings get underway at 08:00 and end at 18:00 local time.
