LateRooms.com - Rome tourists can see Giovanni Barracco Collector and Patriot
October 04, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel NewsLateRooms.com can reveal that Giovanni Barracco Collector and Patriot is a great opportunity for travellers staying in 5 star hotels in Rome to find out more about a famous figure in Italy's history.
The collection will be on show at the museum that bears his name - Museo Barracco - until January 9th 2011 and showcases the man's love for collecting art and archaeological finds, particularly of Egyptian origin.
According to the venue, Barracco came from a rich family of landowners and went on to become a senator in Italy's first parliament, as well as one of its best known collectors.
"In his youth, which he spent between Calabria and Naples, Barracco studied classics and was imbued with a deep sense of patriotism that exposed him to the ideals of the Risorgimento," added the organisers.
Tourists who head down to this exhibition can enjoy the fruits of the great man's hard work, with one piece in particular standing out as a highlight - a sculpture of the head of Pharaoh Seti.
Visitors can enter the Museo Barracco between 09:00 and 19:00 local time from Tuesday to Sunday, with the complex closing on Mondays.
Recently, Catholic.net's Elizabeth Lev chose this exhibition as one of two great displays for people to see if they are interested in Rome's 140th anniversary of becoming the capital of Italy.
For more information on this event visit the Museo Barracco website or contact the venue on +39 066 880 6848.
