Through the highly expressionistic application of paint and the constant inclusion of motifs reflecting personal fascinations, Meese has created a beautifully integrated painting, which displays both unrefined elements of his subconscious and idiosyncratic processed observations gleaned from all aspects of popular culture. With this brutally honest, analytic form of expression he seeks to explore and dissect the nature of power and conspiracy underlying contemporary mythology, using himself as the vantage point.

As well as being a leader in a new generation of action painters, Meese is a prolific sculptor, instillation and performance artist. He first came to prominence in the international contemporary art scene at the1998 Berlin Biennial. Since then his work has been exhibited at the Kunst-Werke Institute of contemporary Art in Berlin, The George Pompidou Center in Paris, and the Saatchi Gallery in London. This is the first time a work by the artist has been displayed in a museum in Turkey.
