Breaking the news LateRooms.com reveals that a special version of one of Oscar Wilde's classic children's tales will be performed in Cornwall next month.

At 16:00 GMT on Saturday January 8th 2011, the Mawnan Memorial Hall is set to provide the venue for PuppetCraft's interpretation of The Selfish Giant.

Wilde's famous story will be brought to life by one of the country's top touring puppet troupes, with atmospheric music and excellent stage craft.

According to organisers from Carn to Cove, the tale has been adapted to "broaden its appeal", but will retain the inherent charm of Wilde's original version.

Families staying in one of the luxury hotels Cornwall has to offer are likely to enjoy seeing the story updated for a contemporary audience.

First published in The Happy Prince and Other Tales in 1888, The Selfish Giant tells the story of a giant who keeps children out his garden by building a large wall, but comes to realise the error of his ways when his castle is condemned to permanent winter.

Carn to Cove is a performing arts scheme for rural communities in Cornwall, with various events organised by the group at village halls across the county throughout the year.

Tickets are available from the venue and the performance will be a disabled-friendly event.
