LateRooms.com - Explore The Baroque Deffect in Barcelona

December 09, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Breaking the news LateRooms.com reveals that the Baroque (D)ef(f)ect is an unusual exhibition taking place in Barcelona that aims to explore the Hispanic identity.

It will be on display at the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona (CCCB) until February 27th 2011.

Tourists staying at the cheap hotels Barcelona offers can learn about how Baroque art relates to the "homogenous framework" supposedly shared by Hispanic nations, according to the organisers.

"Of all the images used in Spanish-speaking countries to construct and legitimise their identity and memory, the Baroque has been the most lasting, widespread and influential, often at the cost of other equally important threads," they added.

This collection is the result of six years of study by curators Jorge Luis Marzo and Tere Badia, who have travelled to various nations to explore the cultural diversity in Hispanic regions.

The display uses animation, films, documentaries and a variety of installations to discuss the relationship between art and power, as well as the creation of this accessible narrative.

Admission for the show is €4.50 (£3.75) and the building is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 11:00 to 20:00 local time except for Thursdays, when it shuts at the later time of 22:00.

The CCCB can be found near the Placa Catalunya and Placa Universitat Metro stations on Calle Montalegre.

For more information on this event, visit the CCCB website or contact the venue on +34 93 306 41 00.
