Organizers of Drumbeat San Diego have solidified the Queen Bee's Center, located at 3925 Ohio Street from 1pm-7pm for the Saturday February 5th event. Register for this event today for free at: www.newmediarights.org/drumbeat/register.

Local organizers have been cultivating groundbreaking projects that enhance the San Diego community. We aim to build new media projects that San Diegans, using tech tools and community engagement can work to improve San Diegans health and civic engagement.

The February 5, 2011 event will offer a space for the technology community to connect with community groups, artists, filmmakers, citizen journalists, musicians, lawyers, and other individuals who are interested in building information tools and using the open Internet to improve the local San Diego community.

The event will highlight the ways in which the open Internet, as well as open technological and cultural standards (ie Creative Commons and Open Source licensing), serve as a democratizing force for citizens to speak, artists to share their creativity, and creators of all types to collaborate to improve our world.

Organizers have created an open submission process that anyone in the community can add too. People who are interested in pitching a project for this innovative community event can pitch them here: www.newmediarights.org/nmr/san_diego_drumbeat_project_page
